The first photograph, "The Night Before Christmas," features a gingerbread house, Christmas cookies, candles, bulbs, and more. "Visions of Sugarplums" is an abstract composition of Christmas confections; and "Such a Clatter!" is a dynamic explosion of objects. In "It Must Be Saint Nick," Santa is shown in shadow; and in "A Bundle of Toys," the presents in Santa's sack are revealed as a magnificent jumble. The final photograph, "Happy Christmas to All" is a beautiful, pastoral landscape, lustrous under new-fallen snow. The original poem is printed on the endpapers. Can You See What

“ANGELS AND Mortals, Believers and Nonbelievers, look heavenward,” Maya Angelou writes, “and speak the word aloud. Peace.” Angelou’s moving poem is a radiant affirmation of the goodness of humanity. In this simple story, a family joins with their community—rich and poor, black and white, Muslim and Jew—to celebrate the holidays.

Gene Autry wrote & recorded "Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane)" in 1947. He was at a Christmas parade where he heard some children repeating "Here Comes Santa Claus!" over & over. Autry was inspired by the joyful anticipation behind their words to jot down the first draft of a song. He brought his notes to Oakley Haldeman, then head of his music pub. co., & they completed the song together -- little suspecting that it would become a Christmas classic. Autry's first holiday recording was an immediate hit, & it grew in popularity until in 1998 it was voted one of the top holiday songs of the 20th cent by ASCAP. Artist Whatley has created a curious North Pole puppy who stows away on Santa's sleigh for an unforgettable Christmas Eve adventure.

What do excited students, craft projects, room mothers, nursing home visits, harried shopping, and near-disastrous pageants have in common?
They are all a part of a teacher's pre-Christmas experience. In this energetic romp through a school's last days before the Christmas break, the students are full of energy and are up to all manner of mischief. But the teachers are pulling out their hair trying to keep the students busy, while they despair over their own Christmas preparations.
Who should come to the rescue? Santa himself, of course! And he arrives at the helm of a flying school bus, with presents for all the teachers and a promise to take care of their shopping for them. The fantastic illustrations work with the text to make this a fast-paced, high-energy comedic interpretation of Clement C. Moore's classic poem. The book is sure to be a read-aloud favorite at Christmas parties in schools everywhere.
