From the supplier: The University of Technology in Delft, The Netherlands, adopts the INGRES relational data base management system in an effort to bring the administration, management and archiving of its data under control. With 13,000 students in physics and various engineering disciplines and a network of two thousand microcomputers, several hundred workstations and dozens of minicomputers, UT Delft needed a system capable of transforming and shaping its information center. INGRES, which incorporates the Structured Query Language standard, and is noted for its flexibility, was chosen after an extensive selection process. INGRES is known for its excellent query optimizer and report generator, and supports 65 different graphics devices. So far, eight of the school's departments have chosen to pay the data center to install INGRES in one or more of their systems.
