A killer is using labyrinthine storm drains to dispose of his victims, who are found handcuffed and drowned, washed out of the rain-filled drainage lines like garbage. The crimes compel FBI Agent Tess McCallum to crack the case, but they're touching a nerve in Personal Security Consultant Abby Sinclair. She fears it's the same madman who invaded her nightmares once before. As the two women work with each other to solve the case, tensions rise and tempers flare. And as sure as the rain, a new killing season begins.

Alex stared at the red pocketknife shown to him by his daughter. A pocketknife owned by somebody he hadn’t seen in years...
-Children-
They met first in boarding school at age twelve. AlexFletcher, shy and scared. Darren Rust, always furiously scribbling away in a private journal. It was not an immediate friendship, but then one night Darren convinced his roommate to sneak off school grounds to see something glorious. There was a sleazy strip club, you see, and every once in a while the back door opened just long enough to maybe catch a quick glimpse... Though a bond was formed from their pre-pubescent interest in naked women, Darren had another interest. A morbid curiosity about death. A curiosity that turned into something much more sinister.
-Friends-
They crossed paths again in college and became the best of friends. But Darren wasn’t just looking for a friend. He had dark, ghastly urges squirming around in his head, and he believed he saw the same things — the urge to hurt, the urge to kill — in Alex. He was looking for somebody who understood. A partner. But Alex could never become a monster. Not even when Darren tried to bring out his friend’s most deeply buried feelings of rage. Not even when Darren tried to show him the euphoria of having that much power over another human being. It just couldn’t happen...right?
-Enemies-
Now Alex has a wife and a daughter. And Darren is back. He’s hiding. He’s patient. His mind is twisted in the worst possible way.
And he’s seeking a soul mate.

The New York Times bestselling author of Comes the Dark, Stealing Faces, The Shadow Hunter, and Last Breath, "Michael Prescott has managed to delve into the depths of the most twisted minds" (Publishers Weekly). This time Michael Prescott really outdoes himself as an FBI agent closes in on the serial killer who murdered her lover-just as the killer gets his hands on a chemical weapon that could raise his body count...to thousands of victims.

A one-woman private operative, Abby Sinclair stalks the stalkers. Her new client is a U.S. congressman shadowed by a mystery woman believed to be a disgruntled ex-employee. He wants her stopped. What Abby doesn't know is that FBI agent Tess McCallum is already on the case. Now, despite vowing never to work together again, Abby and Tess have been partnered in a deadly game. And this is a case that takes one surprising turn after another-because there's more to the story than anyone knows.

I introduced the character of Abby Sinclair in my novel The Shadow Hunter. Since then, she's costarred with another of my heroines, Tess McCallum, in two books (with a third due out in April '07). Abby is a freelance security consultant who infiltrates the lives of stalkers in order to assess their threat potential; she plays by her own rules, and can be dangerously unpredictable. In “Stalkerama” I wanted to show a different side of Abby than the one I usually highlight. I also thought it would be fun to put her in a bowling alley - probably the last place she would ordinarily be found.
